वर्णन
Dark Water is an English collection of short stories by Koji Suzuki, known in Japan as Honogurai mizu no soko kara. The book was first published in 1996 and later translated into English in 2004. The collection explores themes of urban decay, family troubles, and domestic abuse, focusing on the atrocities committed by humans rather than supernatural forces. Each story delves into the emotions of rage, fear, and longing through selfish and cruel characters. The stories are set in a post-Japanese asset price bubble era and feature water imagery throughout, even in land-based plotlines. Dark Water also has a manga adaptation illustrated by Meimu, which shares the same horror elements linked to water.
